Pit Type Heat Treatment Furnace

An industrial furnace that is intended to be placed in an excavated pit or depression in the earth is called a pit furnace, often referred to as a pit-type furnace. It is frequently used for a variety of heat treatment procedures, including metal component carburizing, annealing, and tempering.
Since a pit furnace is situated partially or entirely below ground level, its placement is its main feature. Easy loading and unloading of large or heavy workpieces, less floor space needed, and increased energy efficiency are just a few benefits of this design.

Temperature Control

Uniform Heating

The operation of a Pit Furnace typically involves the following steps:

Loading

The workpieces or materials to be heat treated are loaded into the pit through an access opening. The access opening can be equipped with doors or covers for secure sealing during the heat treatment process.

Heating

The furnace is heated using burners or electric heating elements. The heat is radiated or circulated into the pit, raising the temperature to the desired level for the specific heat treatment process.

HT

The workpieces or materials inside the pit are exposed to the desired temperature and dwell time for the required heat treatment process. This can include heating, soaking, and cooling stages, depending on the specific requirements.

Unloading

Once the heat treatment process is completed, the workpieces or materials are unloaded from the pit furnace. This can be done by lifting them out manually or using lifting equipment, depending on the size.
